Another DX Energy system is live — this one in Ramsgate, Kent, where we installed a 15 kWh all-in-one home battery energy storage system on the side of the property, under its own weather canopy. Two months on, the homeowner told us their electricity bill had fallen by 69%.
What we installed:
- A DX Energy 15 kWh all-in-one home battery energy storage system — a 5 kW hybrid storage inverter with three stacked 5 kWh LiFePO₄ battery modules beneath it
- A fitted weather canopy above the unit, shedding rain away from the enclosure and its connections
- A labelled AC isolator alongside, so the system can be safely isolated from outside the property
Designed for an Outdoor Install
The unit sits on a levelled base against the house wall, clear of the gravel, with the cable run contained down to the isolator. LiFePO₄ cells are the safest of the common lithium chemistries for a domestic install, and the enclosure is rated for external mounting — but on an exposed Kent coastal site the canopy is worth having, and it was fitted as part of the job.
Key Benefits for the Homeowner
69% off the electricity bill: Two months after the install, the homeowner reported back that their electricity bill had dropped by 69%. With 15 kWh of storage, the battery covers a full day of ordinary household demand on a single overnight charge.
Cheap-rate charging: The battery fills overnight on an off-peak tariff and powers the home through the expensive daytime hours, so everyday consumption is bought at the low overnight rate rather than the day rate.
Backup when the grid drops: The inverter carries a dedicated backup output, so stored capacity keeps essential circuits running through a power cut.
Live visibility: The built-in display shows storage level and household draw at a glance, and the system was paired to the homeowner’s phone before we left.
Room to grow: The isolation and cable routing are already in place, so adding an EV charger or solar later is a straightforward addition rather than a rebuild.

Installed in a Day
Our engineer arrived on site at 11am and the homeowner signed the system off the same evening — a single-day install with no return visit. Before handover the battery was paired to the homeowner’s phone, the app was walked through end to end, and the electrical tests were recorded and signed (ZE 0.12 Ω, PFC 1.46 kA, ZS 0.32 Ω).
